The Word of Youth is Strengthened at the Local Level: ‘Youth is in charge’ Project Started

Aiming to strengthen the meaningful and inclusive participation of young people in local decision-making processes and to disseminate governance models that observe youth rights, the Söz Gençlikte Project started to receive applications for online and interactive Civic Participation Trainings consisting of 6 modules specially developed for the members of the Rights Network. With these trainings, which aim to increase the knowledge and skills of young people, it is aimed to develop a more participatory and rights-based governance approach at the local level.

The trainings cover topics such as basic stages and tools of civic participation, inclusion of young people in decision-making processes in local governments, rights-based integration of youth work and municipal services, principles of inclusive participation, monitoring-evaluation mechanisms and youth rights-based advocacy methods.

About the project

Launched in January 2025, Söz Gençlikte Project is supported by the United Nations Development Programme's (UNDP) Strengthening Civic Participation for the Promotion of Democratic Local Governance in Turkey Project - in short, Civic Participation Project - Grant Scheme. The project is implemented by the Youth Services Centre in partnership with Mezitli Municipality and Seferihisar Municipality.
