The work carried out in the field of children's rights is not limited to addressing issues related only to children; it also raises fundamental questions such as how the concept of childhood is defined, within what power dynamics relationships with children are shaped, and how children's rights are advocated for.
In this webinar, organized in memory of children's rights advocate Dilek Kumcu, the focus will be on how to address power dynamics when working with children and how to develop methods that support the empowerment of children.
In the webinar to be held with the participation of children's rights advocates Hatice Kapusuz and Emrah Kırımsoy, a discussion will take place around the following questions:
- Since working with children also means working with power relationships, how can a perspective of challenging the system beyond individual interventions be developed?
- What methods can be developed beyond current approaches in practices of child empowerment and change accompaniment?
- How does the power asymmetry inherent in the concept of childhood affect the quality of relationships established with children? How can we transform this imbalance?
