Zero Waste Grant Programme is awaiting project proposals

A call for project proposals has been published under the Zero Waste Grant Programme (ZWGP), a joint initiative of the European Union and the Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change. The programme aims to minimise waste and increase resource efficiency through local actions.

Programme aims and priority areas

The overall aim of the programme is to improve waste management in Turkey. Therefore, projects submitted must focus on at least one of the following priority areas:

  • Increasing the zero waste management capacity of local authorities.
  • Increasing the implementation of zero waste management through cooperation with different sectors (academia, industry, agriculture, etc.).
  • Developing zero waste management plans and strategies.
  • Raising public awareness on the efficient use of resources, waste prevention, and recycling.

Who can apply?

Applications may consist of a Main Applicant (mandatory) and Co-Applicants (optional). Only non-profit legal entities may apply.

The Main Applicant may only be one of the following institutions:

  • Municipalities 
  • Provincial Special Administrations 
  • Solid Waste Management Associations 

Co-Applicants may be the following institutions:

Municipalities, provincial special administrations, solid waste management associations, associations, foundations (CSOs), universities, research centres, development agencies, cooperatives, and professional organisations.

About applications

The call consists of a two-stage process. In the first stage, only Project Concept Notes will be submitted. Other details are as follows:

  • Application Language: English
  • Application Format: Applications must be submitted in a sealed envelope by registered mail, special courier or in person to the address below. The envelope must contain one original, two copies and a USB flash drive containing the electronic version of the project.
  • Delivery Address: Ministry of Environment, Urbanisation and Climate Change of the Republic of Turkey, Directorate General for EU and Foreign Relations, Directorate of EU Investments, Tender Affairs Department, Mustafa Kemal Mahallesi 2082. Cadde No: 52 Çankaya/Ankara, Turkey.
