zivik Grant Program Accepting Applications for Peacebuilding and Crisis Prevention Projects

In Germany, the zivik Grant Program, run by the Institut für Auslandsbeziehungen (ifa), is accepting applications from civil society organizations working in crisis prevention, conflict resolution, and peacebuilding. The program aims to strengthen the complementary role of civil society in crisis regions and to contribute to the development of peaceful political and social structures.

Purpose and Scope of the Program

The main objective of the program is to prevent crises, ensure stability, and strengthen civil society capacity.

The maximum grant amount that may be requested by institutions that have not previously received funding from this program (first-time applicants) is 100,000 Euros.

Projects must be completed by December 31 of the year they start (for example, March 1, 2025 – December 31, 2025). Ongoing (follow-up) projects can be supported for a maximum of 3 calendar years.

Supported Activities / Areas

In terms of content, the program particularly focuses on United Nations (UN) Security Council Resolution 2250 on "Youth, Peace, and Security." Projects to be funded are expected to serve the following areas.

  • Ensuring the active participation of young people in political and social decision-making processes (Participation).
  • Protecting young people from violence, exploitation, and abuse (Protection).
  • Preventing the causes of conflict at an early stage through education, participation, and social integration (Prevention).
  • Strengthening partnerships with youth organizations and civil society actors (Partnership).
  • Supporting and socially reintegrating young people returning from armed groups or conflicts (Reintegration).

Applications from Turkey (Geographical Scope): The program's focus regions include Sub-Saharan Africa, Ukraine, and the South Caucasus, as well as SWANA (Southwest Asia and North Africa) and Southeast Europe.

Important Restrictions

Principle of Complementarity (Subsidiarity): Applicants should have exhausted the possibility of using their own resources or other (third-party) funds before applying for the grant.

It is mandatory that project activities have not commenced prior to grant approval.

Institutional Policy and Capacity Requirements: Applicant CSOs are required to have a bank account in their own name that is open to international money transfers. Additionally, organizations are expected to have written rules (internal policies) concerning: protection against sexual exploitation and abuse, prevention of corruption, prevention of terrorist financing, and compliance with ethical standards.
