Purposes and the Way of Work
The mission of the EWL is to work together to ensure equality between men and women, eliminate all forms of discrimination against women, ensure respect for women's human rights, eliminate violence against women, and finally ensure that gender equality is taken into account in all EU policies. EWL mainly works with EU institutions (European Parliament, European Commission and the Council of the European Union).
Membership and Membership Requirements
EWL is a membership-based organization. EWL brings together a wide range of civil society organizations working in the field of women. It currently has more than 2000 members. There are 4 categories of membership in the EWL: full members (national member organizations and European-wide member organizations), limited members, individual supporting members and supporting organizations.
