Notes from the field: What Happened in Antakya Office in March?

After the 6 February earthquakes, we opened our Antakya office with the aim of increasing the resilience of civil society in Hatay, and we had a month full of events where we came together with both local civil society organisations and national and international stakeholders.

On 19 March, representatives from GIZ, the EU Delegation and the EU Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs visited our office. Prior to the visit, a project promotion meeting was organised in Hatay with the participation of public institutions and CSOs within the scope of the PACE Project. We took part in this important meeting and discussed cooperation opportunities in the field.

On 25 March, during our meeting with the Chief Public Prosecutor's Office Hatay Directorate of Probation, we talked about the projects carried out on supporting the educational processes of children dragged into crime and access to livelihoods for ex-convicts, and discussed possible cooperation with CSOs.

Our solidarity with ALİKEV continues

ALİKEV, one of the organisations that suffered spatial loss after the earthquake, continues to use our Antakya office for meetings. On 20 March, at the team meeting, ALIKEV made an evaluation on the work in the field.

We organised a joint meeting with Mavi Kalem Association and Save the Children

On 21 March, we brought together representatives from Save the Children's Livelihoods Unit and Mavi Kalem Association. The meeting was a productive gathering where observations and experiences on livelihoods work carried out in Hatay were shared.

Colourful closing of the Harvest Association

On 22 March, our office hosted the closing meeting and exhibition of a project run by the Harvest Association. During the event, the paintings prepared by young people during the project were exhibited. The closing event was completed with evaluations and strong participation.

New podcast from Women's Solidarity Group

On 21 March, a podcast was recorded in our office, moderated by Eda Dinçman from the Women's Solidarity Group and hosted by Abir Naeseh Bilgin. The recording titled ‘Developments in Syria and what Antakya has added to our lives’ provided an important content on social memory and regional solidarity.
