We Monitor International Developments in the Agenda of Civil Society

One of our important working topics within the scope of the Monitoring of Freedom of Association Project, which we carry out with the support of the European Union, is to closely follow the global civil society agenda and produce more information in the field of civil society.

In this context, we will try to evaluate with the information notes we will prepare about the studies on how international organizations, especially the European Union, United Nations, and OECD, evaluate civil society.

As part of this effort, we made a brief review of two important EU-level documents published in 2021.

Is the Third Sector or the Social Economy Sector Back?

We have started to see the concept of the social economy more and more, especially in the international policy documents published recently.

In the first fact sheet, we evaluated the Social Economy Action Plan named “Building an Economy that Works for People: An Action Plan for the Social Economy”. In the information note, we evaluated both the action plan and the situation in Turkey.

Is Free Movement Possible for NGOs in the European Union?

The report, entitled "A Statute for European Cross-border Associations and Non-profit Organizations" prepared by the European Parliament, stems from the fact that there is currently no common legal arrangement for non-governmental organizations at the EU level. The report explores ways to establish such a common legal status.
