Balance and Supervision Network (DDA) Looking for Field Officer

The Balance and Supervision Network is seeking a Project Field Officer to serve on the Network's professional team working on the Strengthening Democratic and Active Citizenship Project.

The term of the position is limited until March 15, 2024, with plans to extend in parallel with project support received. Duty is in Ankara and will be full-time. Job Description :
The Network for Balance and Supervision is a movement composed of almost 300 civil society organizations with different backgrounds, views and fields of work to ensure the monitoring of balance in Turkey. One of the most important tasks of this movement is to lobby and strengthen the field. The Field Officer will work to strengthen our local and national community structure, strengthen relationships with members and stakeholders and ensure their sustainability, and give voice to our voice.

  • Build relationships with members of the DDA's local and national civil society organizations and stakeholders (policymakers, academics, local governments, local media, universities, professional chambers, etc.), and be responsible for conducting basic communications with stakeholdersWithin the framework of the DDA's principles and values, communications strategy and strategic plan,
  • Ensure visibility of the DDA on the ground and/or in the DDA provinces, build capacity, grow the local community, and ensure the sustainability of that community,
  • Develop a monthly/annual field strategy with input from the advocacy unit and local stakeholders, and update and implement the field strategy as needed,
  • Plan all field studies (campaigns, trainings, visits, meetings, etc.) conducted at the regional/local level with the relevant units and the Advocacy Coordinator, create content, conduct appointments, facilitate meetings and coordinate the field unit,
  • Conduct logistical and organizational operations of studies to be conducted in the DDA provinces with the Advocacy Coordinator, responsibility for the field budget,
  • Support the Advocacy Coordinator in the trainings to be conducted by DDA on active citizenship, capacity building, participation and awareness raising, and conduct basic relations with relevant experts and trainings,
  • Conduct capacity building, training and structuring process of DDA local coordinators,
  • Regularly prepare field analysis and impact reports, develop and implement strategies based on these reports,
  • Responsible for reporting, filing, archiving and updating the database of all field related results,
  • Ensure preparation of member/community, field communication activities and materials for members/communities in the field,
  • Acting in accordance with DDA principles and values and strategic plans in all activities and community relations conducted in the region/field as part of the project to ensure reliability is maintained,
  • Effectively coordinate and communicate with IPC and all other relevant SU entities, especially the DDA/Project Team.

Desired Qualities

  • Possess a minimum of a 4-year Bachelor's degree, preferably in Social Sciences,
  • At least 4 years of professional experience in the field of civil society, preferably in volunteer management,
  • Mastery of local/national political agenda and ability to analyze developments,
  • Very good communication, presentation and reporting skills (written, oral, cross-cultural),
  • Must be able to work effectively with network members, stakeholders, and technical staff who come from diverse backgrounds and have different policy views/ideologies,
  • Ability to collaboratively execute and complete various pieces of work in a timely manner,
  • Openness to produce and develop creative ideas,
  • Advanced proficiency in written and spoken English,
  • The ability to work in a team and lead a unit,
  • Have no travel barriers and be able to adapt to the fast pace of work.
