Education Reform Initiative is looking for new teammates. The details of the postings for the policy analyst, administrative assistant, and project manager are as follows;

Policy Analyst
Unit: Education Observatory

City: Ankara (from a distance) (when the work requires, there will be travel to different cities of Turkey, mainly in Istanbul, where the ERG office is located.)

Job Description

The policy analyst is expected to fulfill the following responsibilities:

  • Having in-depth knowledge of the areas studied within the framework of ERG's corporate strategy; developing relations and interacting with public institutions, international organizations, institutional supporters, civil society organizations, academics, educators, and other relevant actors in these fields; monitoring national and international developments; informing other ERG employees and contributing to the development of institutional capacity in this context,
  • Determining change-oriented impact targets within the framework of ERG's corporate strategy and creating program strategies in this context; leading the implementation of program strategies; contributing to the identification of new fields of work,
  • Determining the need for data in line with the strategies developed in the program areas defined and expected to manage in the education sector, designing, conducting, and/or managing research in cooperation with experts and institutions in cases where this data cannot be obtained from the existing literature,
  • Monitoring and analyzing MoNE policies in the program areas defined and expected to manage in the education sector and writing informative research and policy documents for decision-makers, policymakers, and the public and/or contributing to the writing process of these; Contributing to the design and implementation of the advocacy and communication process of the content in question and working in coordination with the communication team in this process,
  • Ensuring that the researchers s/he is responsible for and/or working with work in a way that allows them to develop effectively, efficiently, and professionally,
  • Undertaking and/or contributing to the management of projects in program management processes (creation of project/research teams, management of project budgets, preparation of project documents, preparation of project reports), participation in implementation processes, and realization of necessary activities,
  • Representing ERG at national and international cooperation events, seminars, and conferences,
  • Representing ERG in front of the press in the fields, projects, and research s/he is responsible for,
  • Contributing to the ERG's development of new projects and research, and in this context, participating in the preparation, writing, monitoring, and reporting processes.

Acquirements

  • Opportunity to apply theoretical method knowledge on education policies,
  • Opportunity to develop and experience new methods in quantitative and qualitative research methods,
  • Evidence-based policy design experience,
  • Experience in presenting research findings to different stakeholders (public, academia, CSO, teachers, parents, students) and working with different stakeholders in policy development processes,
  • Present research findings in a letter, policy note, information note, monitoring report, infographic, etc. experience of converting to different formats,
  • Be able to obtain information about different fields of education at national and international levels,
  • Project design and management experience,
  • The opportunity to network with individuals and institutions that conduct national and international research and monitor/develop education policies,
  • Speaking, presentation, representation experience before groups such as the press, public institutions, academia, etc.

Candidates Required Qualities
Education: Master's or higher education in educational or social sciences or economic and administrative sciences (economics, public administration, political science, sociology, psychology, etc.)

Experience: At least 3 years of professional and/or academic experience using writing and quantitative/qualitative research skills

Knowledge / Skill:

  • Able to use quantitative research methods and statistical analysis programs (R, SAS, SPSS, Stata, etc.),
  • Preferably experienced in qualitative research methods (interview, focus group, etc.),
  • Ability to express oneself fluently, clearly, in line with language rules, influentially both orally and in writing,
  • Excellent command of English and preferably a second foreign language,
  • Advanced Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint skills,
  • Data visualization experience,
  • The ability to work independently and remotely is preferred.

Administrative Affairs Assistant
Unit: Administrative Affairs
City: Istanbul

Candidates Required Qualities

  • Undergraduate education, graduation from a relevant department,
  • Good knowledge of MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.),
  • Communication and organizational skills,
  • Effective work tracking and planning, time management, independent and remote working skills,
  • Predisposition to teamwork and solution-oriented,
  • Advanced oral and written communication skills in Turkish, basic English oral and written communication skills,
  • Open to learning and professional development,
  • No obstacles for short trips,
  • At least 2 years of professional experience in a similar role.

Job Description

  • Directing daily phone traffic,
  • Providing and accepting incoming and outgoing letters, cargo, and mail,
  • Supporting the coordination of internal and external activities,
  • Providing administrative support for all employees (air ticket reservation, accommodation, business visa procedures, sending meeting invitations and RSVP tracking, etc.)
  • Making meeting room reservations and supplying meeting equipment,
  • Ensuring that all office tools and equipment are in working condition and providing consumables,
  • Notifying the security of the names of the guests coming to the office and welcoming the guests,
  • Making and following the appointments for the high-level meetings of the coordinators in the ministry and ministry units,
  • Making appointment requests of the director, making flight plans, and managing all administrative processes,
  • Managing the archive and filing system of the office,
  • Supporting internal and external correspondence,
  • Ensuring the regular operation of the CRM (Customer Relationship Management) system, updating it regularly, and entering new records. (For candidates who have not used the CRM system before, half-day training will be given by the Information Technology Unit of the university.)

Project Manager
Unit: Education Laboratory
City: Istanbul

Job Description

  • The project manager is expected to fulfill the following responsibilities:
  • Carrying out the planning, implementation, and evaluation processes of the projects and activities for which the Education Laboratory is responsible; contributing to new project development processes,
  • Carrying out the planning, implementation, and evaluation processes of the Best Practices in Education Conference, local meetings, and other related side events; Contributing to the development processes of the Good Practices in Education digital platform,
  • Designing training programs and events, monitoring and evaluating their effects, and carrying out revision processes,
  • Developing and executing projects that offer consultancy and solution processes to stakeholders who want to benefit from ERG's experience and knowledge,
  • Coordinating efforts to bring together stakeholders who want to create a positive transformation in education, in line with the ERG mission and values, and creating cooperation networks,
  • Ensuring the regular communication required by the work carried out with business partners, consultants, project supporters, civil society, and various actors in the field of education,
  • Following the current developments, inspiring projects, and practices in Turkey and the world in the fields of activity of ERG such as education, learning, children, and civil society,
  • Exchanging information regularly with stakeholder institutions, teachers, school leaders, and experts working and following developments in the field,
  • Contributing to the preparation of the budgets and business plans of the studies carried out by the Education Laboratory,
  • Contributing to studies on the formation, implementation, revision of ERG strategies; monitoring and measurement of ERG effect,
  • Contributing to the creation and preparation processes of the content of publications, bulletins, reports, videos, etc. published by ERG.
  • Representing ERG in various projects, partnerships, organizations, and meetings.

Candidates Required Qualities
Education:

  • 4-year college degree or higher education,
  • Preferably graduate in educational sciences, social sciences, or economic and administrative sciences (sociology, cultural anthropology, psychology, economics, public administration, political science, etc.).

Experience:

  • At least 5 years of working experience,
  • Voluntary or professional experience in civil society is preferred,
  • Project management, reporting, fieldwork, and event organization experience are preferred.

Knowledge / Skill:

  • Having excellent verbal and written communication skills in Turkish and English,
  • Being able to use MS Office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google applications such as Drive, Docs, Sheets, and Slides very well,
  • Having analytical thinking, writing, and research skills; literature review,
  • Having knowledge and experience in the theory of change, monitoring & evaluation, and project management methodologies are expected,
  • Knowing the intersection of education, learning, education policies, and civil society, as well as issues such as gender equality, climate crisis, children's rights, being open to learning, being prone to establishing interdisciplinary connections,
  • Being able to use Zoom, Restream, etc. digital meeting and broadcasting tools,
  • Having knowledge and experience of qualitative and qualitative research methods and practices,
  • The ability to work independently and remotely is preferred.
