Education Reform Initiative Looking for Teammates

Education Reform Initiative (ERG) is seeking a Communications and Content officer and a project manager for its offices in Istanbul.

Project Manager

Job Description

  • Carry out the planning, implementation and evaluation processes of the projects and activities for which the Education Lab is responsible; Contribute to new project development processes.
  • Plan, implement and evaluate the Best Practices in Education Conference, local meetings and other related side events; 
  • Contribute to the development of the Best Practices in Education digital platform.
  • Design training programs and events, monitor and evaluate their impact, and conduct revision processes.
  • Develop and implement projects that provide consultation and solutions processes for stakeholders seeking to benefit from the experience and knowledge of ERG.
  • Coordinate efforts to bring together stakeholders who want to bring about positive change in education in line with ERG 's mission and values, and create collaborative networks.
  • Ensure regular communication required to work with business partners, consultants, project supporters, civil society and various stakeholders in the field of education.
  • Keeping track of current developments, inspiring projects and practices in Turkey and the world in ERG 's areas of activity such as education, learning, children and civil society.
  • Regularly exchanging information with stakeholders, teachers, school leaders and experts working in this field in order to follow the developments in this field.
  • Participate in the preparation of budgets and business plans for studies conducted by the Education Laboratory.
  • Develop, implement and revise ERG strategies; participate in studies to monitor and measure the impact of ERG.
  • Bulletin, report, video, etc. published by ERG. Contribute to the drafting and preparation of the content of publications.
  • Represent ERG in various projects, partnerships, organizations and meetings.

Required qualities of candidates

  • Preferably completion of a 4-year university degree or advanced degree/ education, social sciences, or business/administration (sociology, cultural anthropology, psychology, economics, public administration, political science, etc.).
  • At least 5 years of professional experience/volunteer work or professional experience in civil society is an asset.
  • Experience in project management, reporting, fieldwork and event organization is an asset.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills in Turkish and English
  • Ability to use MS office programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google applications such as Drive, Docs, Sheets and Slides very well,
  • Analytical thinking, writing and research skills; literature review,
  • You are expected to have knowledge and experience in theory of change, monitoring and evaluation, and project management methods.
  • You should have knowledge of education, learning, education policy, and civil society, as well as issues such as gender equality, climate crisis, and children's rights. You should be open to new ideas and inclined to make interdisciplinary connections,
  • Be able to use Zoom, Restream, etc. digital meeting and broadcasting tools,
  • Have knowledge and experience with qualitative and qualitative research methods and practices,
  • Ability to work independently and remotely is preferred.

Communication and Content Specialist

Job Description

  • Contribute to the preparation/update of a communications strategy and digital transformation roadmap and digital communications strategies in line with ERG 's monitoring, research, advocacy, and implementation/solutions development objectives, and put strategies and plans into practice.
  • Produce creative visuals and copy for all ERG digital communication channels and tools (website, social media channels, digital platform, e-bulletins, etc.); review and update existing content (editorial or visual design) as needed.
  • Manage ERG 's social media accounts in accordance with communication and outreach plans; prepare posts to build awareness of existing works and company reputation; develop content and campaign ideas.
  • Editing and typesetting/implementing all publications and content from ERG (monitoring reports, factsheets, blog posts, etc.); carrying out the preparation processes for content typed/implemented by service providers.
  • Create copy for various needs (website content; invitation, addresses, and project texts; press releases, etc.).
  • Contribute to the creation of ERG communication materials , reports for all supporters and other communication materials.
  • Promote and disseminate ERG events and publications, establish and maintain regular and effective communication channels with stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the editing of the communication components in the writing processes of the projects carried out by different units of ERG and carry out the communication activities of the projects; coordinate with relevant units and teams.
  • Assist in the design and organization of the communication events of ERG.
  • Communicate with relevant service providers (creative agencies, editors, designers, publishers, software developers, event management companies, etc.) in their areas of responsibility.
  • Represent ERG in various projects, partnerships, organizations, and meetings related to his/her area of responsibility; evaluate communication and collaboration opportunities.
  • Monitor current developments, new applications and studies that may inspire ERG in his or her area of responsibility to inform relevant departments and teams of those that are appropriate for ERG.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by direction of his/her supervisor.

Required qualities of candidates

  • At least 5 years of experience (preferably in civil society organizations or agencies) in digital communications, brand and campaign management,
  • Knowledge of digital platform dynamics and trends in digital communications
  • Experience writing and managing content for social media and email marketing
  • Experience in editing and proofreading
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Turkish
  • Ability to use visual design tools such as Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign and already produce creative visual designs
  • Ability to apply SEO and SEM working principles and dynamics, preferably using Google Analytics
  • Proficiency with tools from MS Office and G Suite
  • Experience with web-based content management systems and WordPress
  • Good communication skills, solution oriented
  • Analytical thinking, attention to detail
  • Ability to manage complex processes with multiple stakeholders, with advanced tracking and planning skills
  • Interest in social policy, education policy, and rights-based work
  • Curious to learn and develop further.
