Zehra Tosun graduated from Mersin University, Department of Psychology in 2001, and completed her master's degree in social psychology at the same university.

She worked professionally in various women's organizations between 2001-2009. Zehra Tosun, who has been working as an independent expert since 2009, took part as an expert and consultant in the activities of organizations such as UNFPA, UNICEF, ILO, IOM, UN Women, the Council of Europe, and the World Bank on ensuring gender equality and preventing violence against women. Between 2015 and 2017, she worked as a Key Expert on Violence Against Women in the EU Project for Technical Assistance for Women's Shelters covering 26 provinces.

She has prepared various educational materials, guides, and reports on gender equality, domestic violence against women, human trafficking, child, early and forced marriages, women's counseling centers, and shelter operations. Zehra Tosun works as a gender expert in TOGETHER: Institutional Support Program for Local CSOs.
