We come to Adana for training on the Right to Participation

As part of our Monitoring on Freedom of Association project, we will organize a training on the Right to Participation in Adana on 25-26-27 January to strengthen the capacity of civil society organizations in the field of advocacy and participation.

In this 3-day training, we will discuss the right to participation from different aspects. We will talk about freedom of association in national and international legislation, advocacy, participatory methods and participation, the involvement of CSOs in the drafting of laws, local participation mechanisms and participation mechanisms in central administration.

Only CSOs operating in the provinces of Adıyaman, Adana, Diyarbakır, Elazığ, Hatay, Gaziantep, Kayseri, Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Nevşehir, Niğde, Malatya, Mersin, Osmaniye and Şanlıurfa can apply for the training.

We will cover the accommodation and transportation costs for those attending the training from outside Adana.

Timetable for application

Civil society organizations wishing to participate in the training must complete the registration form by Tuesday, January 2, 2024, 17:00. Representatives of civil society organizations admitted to the training will be informed by e-mail on Monday, 8 January 2024.

We will cover the costs of accommodation and transportation for those attending the training from outside the city.

Apply for the training

Criteria for application

  • Only CSOs operating in the provinces of Adıyaman, Adana, Diyarbakır, Elazığ, Hatay, Gaziantep, Kayseri, Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Nevşehir, Niğde, Malatya, Mersin, Osmaniye and Şanlıurfa can apply for the training.
  • The training program is aimed at rights-based* CSOs that carry out advocacy activities and campaigns at local and national level or have included these activities in their work calendar.
  • It is mandatory that 2 persons per organization apply for the training. Applications from individuals on behalf of CSOs will not be accepted. It is mandatory that two people attend to both trainings.
  • It is mandatory that both CSO representatives wishing to register for the training complete the registration form together. After the evaluation, changes of participants will not be accepted, except in exceptional cases.
  • It is desirable that at least one of the CSO representatives applying for the training is female.
  • Experience in setting agendas related to participation, monitoring and evaluation or a plan to be involved in decision-making processes or influencing public policy will be considered a plus.
  • It is an advantage if you have completed the "Everybody Needs Back-Up" section on the STOK learning platform. You can register for the STOK learning platform here.

How is the training assessed?

To ensure that the training course runs effectively and efficiently, the number of participants is limited to 20. The evaluation will be based on the following criteria.

  • The registration form must be completed in full,
  • Two persons from one CSO have applied,
  • Compatibility between the purpose of the application and the purpose of the training program,
  • Having completed the online content in the "Everybody Needs Back-up" section of the STOK learning platform at the time of your application, you will be given priority.

  • Thematic distribution 
  • Gender balance

* While the rights-based approach defines the individual as a rightholder subject, it identifies state institutions and, increasingly, the private sector as duty-bearers. The rights-based approach, based on human rights principles and standards, aims to develop the capacities of individuals to claim and defend their rights and of institutions to fulfill their rights-related obligations.

If your application is accepted, you will need to provide us with a assignment letter from the management of the organization you represent, stating that they approve your participation in the entire program on behalf of your organization.
