We Have Started Accepting Applications: Participation Rights Training in February in Istanbul

As part of our Organizational Freedom Monitoring Project, we have started accepting applications for the Participation Rights Training, which will take place on February 8-9-10, 2024, in Istanbul, with the aim of strengthening the advocacy and participation capacities of CSOs.

CSOs operating within the Marmara Region, including Istanbul, Edirne, Kırklareli, Tekirdağ, Çanakkale, Kocaeli, Yalova, Sakarya, Bilecik, Bursa, and Balıkesir, can apply for the training.

Accommodation and transportation expenses for those attending from outside Istanbul will be covered by us.

What topics will be discussed in the training?

In this three-day training, where we will comprehensively discuss the right to participate, we will cover topics such as organizational freedom in national and international legislation, advocacy, participatory methods and participation, CSO participation in the legislative process, local participation mechanisms, and mechanisms for participation in central administration.

What is the application timeline?

CSOs wishing to participate in the training must fill out the application form by 5:00 PM on Monday, January 15, 2024. CSOs accepted for the training will be informed via email on Monday, January 22, 2024.

What are the application criteria?

  • Only CSOs operating in Istanbul, Edirne, Kırklareli, Tekirdağ, Çanakkale, Kocaeli, Yalova, Sakarya, Bilecik, Bursa, and Balıkesir can apply for the training.
  • The training program is designed for rights-based CSOs that carry out advocacy activities and campaigns at the local and national levels or have included these activities in their work calendar.
  • Each organization must apply with two representatives. Applications from a single individual on behalf of a CSO will not be accepted. Both representatives participating in the training are required to attend both sessions in full.
  • It is preferable for at least one of the two representatives applying for the training to identify as a woman.
  • Experience in creating agendas related to participation, monitoring, and evaluation or plans to influence decision-making processes will be considered a plus.
  • Completion of online content in the "Essential Lessons for Everyone" section on the STOK Learning Platform at the time of application will give you priority. You can register for the STOK Learning Platform here.

How will the training evaluation be conducted?

To ensure the effective and efficient progress of the training process, the number of participants will be limited to 20 people. The following criteria will be taken into account in the evaluation..  

  • The application form is filled out completely.
  • Two people from a CSO have applied.
  • Compatibility of the application purpose with the training program goal
  • Completion of online content in the "Essential Lessons for Everyone" section of the STOK Learning Platform at the time of application will give you priority.

  • Thematic distribution
  • Gender balance

*A rights-based approach defines individuals as rights-holding entities while identifying state institutions and increasingly the private sector as duty-bearers. The rights-based approach, based on human rights principles and standards, aims to develop the capacities of individuals to claim and defend their rights and institutions to fulfill their obligations related to rights.

If your application is accepted, please note that you will be asked to provide a "designation letter" from the management structure of the organization you represent, confirming your participation in the program.
