Civilog Project Has Turned 10 Good Projects Implemented with EU Support into Videos

The Civilog: Deepening Active Dialogue project has turned 10 projects implemented with the support of the EU into videos. Carrying out projects with grants provided by the European Union to candidate countries through various programs; 10 institutions operating in fields such as rural development, agriculture, art, health, media, and youth shared the details of their practices within the scope of grant programs with the audience.

Mediterranean Natural Life Association – Rural Development Project with Local Products

The project, which aims to make the Indian Fig, a local product, play a more active role in the development of the region, was carried out in 2016-2017. Within the scope of the project, 25 agricultural engineers received technical training on the cultivation of Indian figs and conveyed this training to 500 farmers. The established producer association exchanged experiences and collaborated with industry representatives in Italy. While the export of Indian figs was 5 tons in 2017, increasing to 12 tons in 2021. Studies on the use of Indian figs in the field of food technologies (ice cream, marmalade, fruit juice, etc.) and the medical field are continuing.

Wheat Ecological Life Support Association – Non-poisonous Tables

The project, which aims to ban pesticides used in agriculture that are harmful to human health, was carried out between 2019-and 2020. Following this purpose, it was aimed to develop cooperation between civil society organizations in the EU and Turkey working in this field and to strengthen the campaigning and advocacy activities of CSOs in Turkey. Informative publications were prepared and disseminated within the scope of the project, and more than 100 CSOs and civil initiatives came together with the "Non-poisonous Tables Platform”. As a result of the successful campaign, which gathered more than 160 thousand signatures, 25 pesticides were banned by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

Celiac and Organic Nutrition Association – Celiacs in Education

The project, which aims to increase the organizational ability by bringing together the celiac associations in various provinces of Turkey, was carried out in 2016. The ultimate goal of the project was to make the lives of individuals with celiac more productive, quality, and livable. Within this direction, a strategic plan was created with the representatives of CSOs working in the field, and the Parliament was visited to lead the establishment of the Celiac Research Commission. A day later, a proposal was made in the Turkish Grand National Assembly regarding the establishment of this commission and it was accepted by all parties. Following this process, celiacs' access to gluten-free products increased, and the number of CSOs working in the field of celiac in Turkey increased from 23 to 45.

Journalists' Association – Media for Democracy / Democracy for the Media 

The project, which is carried out to continue freelance journalism by supporting journalists and media workers in Turkey, is carried out between 2019-and 2022. Within the scope of the project, media institutions and young journalists were given strengthening support, such as training, on the one hand, and financial support such as equipment and office expenses on the other. The project targeted young and unemployed journalists, jobless journalists, and citizens seeking access to the constitutional right to information. Within the scope of the project, a total of 292 journalists and 47 institutions and the establishment of 60 news platforms, 1 agency, and 5 press houses were supported.

IZ Association in Individual and Community Health – Side by Side All Over Turkey 

The project, which aims to bring children from different ethnic origins together and in harmony in schools, is carried out between 2019-and 2022. Within the scope of the project, in cooperation with the Ministry of National Education, training was given to 650 guidance teachers from 10 provinces (Istanbul, Bursa, İzmir, Konya, Adana, Mersin, Kilis, Hatay, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa). The main purpose of the training was to create an environment suitable for the harmonious education of immigrant and host society children. The training was supported by expertly prepared guides and board games. Hrant Dink Foundation – Towards a New Discourse and Dialogue

The project, which aims to replace hate speech based on human rights with an alternative and inclusive language, was carried out between 2018-and 2021. Within the scope of the project, meetings, panels, and training were held on discriminatory discourse, inclusive language, and hate speech against refugees. After the completion of the project, the training continues to be developed to include hate speech and discrimination against refugees as well as religious, national, ethnic other identities, and gender identities in Turkey.

Antakya Civilizations Choir Association - Capacity Development of Antakya Civilizations Choir

The project, which was carried out to increase the capacity of the Antakya Civilizations Choir Association and strengthen cooperation with local and national CSOs and public institutions, was carried out in 2019-2020. Within the scope of the project, the long-term policies of the association were determined through the strategy workshop held with local CSOs. Reinforcing training was given to local CSO representatives and association members on various topics such as communication and volunteering. In addition, the multicultural structure of the association was brought to the masses with the concerts held in Istanbul and Hatay.

Pi Youth Association - Strengthening Youth Organizations for Rights-Based and Inclusive Youth Work

The project, which aims to strengthen the organizations and representatives working in the field of youth, was carried out between 2020-and 2021. Within the scope of the project, a platform called Local Youth Association Network, which gathers youth working associations in Turkey under one roof, was established. Through this platform, common problems in the field of youth work were discovered and action was taken to find solutions. The training was held on human rights, anti-discrimination, and youth rights. Fundamental Needs Association – Building the Capacity of Food Banking in Turkey

The project, which was carried out to popularize food banking in Turkey, was carried out between 2019-and 2020. A food bank means the system in which the products that will go to waste are donated by the producers for evaluation. Within the scope of the project, the food banking system was introduced by holding meetings in 14 provinces (Istanbul, Çanakkale, Samsun, Trabzon, Malatya, Van, İzmir, Afyon, Ankara, Konya, Mersin, Hatay, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep). The meetings were held with local governments, manufacturers, chambers of commerce, and governorships. The project led to the opening of 12 new food banks. During the process, 700 tons of food, textile, cleaning, and cosmetic products were saved from waste. The association continues to support a total of 57 food banks after the completion of the project.

Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Turkey – Communication Network for Women in the Business World

Within the scope of the Networks and Partnerships Grant Program for Strengthening Cooperation between the Public and CSOs, which was carried out to increase the participation of women entrepreneurs in public tenders, was carried out between 2019-and 2021. As part of the project, communication and cooperation between women entrepreneurs were increased through various tools. Women entrepreneurs were provided with online training on subjects such as law, finance, and administrative processes. Meetings and exchange of views were held with CSOs, local governments, and public institutions in various provinces (Istanbul, Bursa, Ankara, Gaziantep, Samsun, Kayseri, Antalya, Izmir, Denizli, Diyarbakir, Van). During the project process, a local modeling document was prepared in municipalities regarding women's entrepreneurship and a draft law was prepared to submit to the Parliament.
