WWF-Turkey is looking for a “Conservation Officer”

WWF is the world’s largest and most experienced independent conservation organization. WWF-Turkey, national organization of WWF, is looking for a “Conservation Officer” to carry out the existing project activities in Büyük Menderes River Basin. The position will be based in Aydın but also requires working in other offices of WWF-Turkey.
Duties will include but not be limited to:
- Organization of capacity building activities for key stakeholders in Büyük Menderes Basin for the development of Integrated River Basin Management (IRBM).
- Regularly communicating with central and local government counterparts, local people, NGOs and any other party necessary for the success of the project
- Guiding the consultants to get a targeted report; analyzing consultants’ reports and being able to synthesize them into coherent conclusion and outputs
- Preparing regular technical and financial progress reports
- Being in constant communication about the status of the project with the team members
Requirements:
- Must be dedicated to the improvement of civil society and environmental practices
- Must hold a Bachelor’s degree or higher in any of the Natural Sciences (environmental engineering, biology or relevant field)
- Must hold at least two years of work experience in implementation of field projects preferably in water management
- Must have good command of English language
- Must be computer literate (MS Office, Internet etc…), GIS knowledge is a strong asset
- Must have some managerial skills for guiding the project’s consultants, managing the project’s budget and the deadlines
- Must have excellent communications and diplomatic skills to be able to establish good relations from government institutions to local people
- Must be able to work flexible hours
- Must be able and willing to travel, sometimes often or for an extended period
- Project writing experience preferred
- Must have a driver’s license
- Completed military service (for male candidates)
Working Conditions:
The work will be carried out both at the field office and other offices of WWF-Turkey and on the field. Field work may involve staying in sub-standard accommodations and working under difficult weather
