Following a three-day training program, 20 young delegates conducted monitoring activities in Samsun Metropolitan Municipality as well as Atakum, İlkadım, and Canik Municipalities, creating a participatory model in which young people assess local governments using data.
The report presents a comparative evaluation of municipalities in key areas such as access to urban rights, gender equality, safety, participation, and transparency. Findings highlight major gaps in women’s representation, a lack of gender-disaggregated data, and persistent needs in safety and accessibility, while also pointing to strong practices in areas such as childcare services, women’s shelters, vocational training, and youth participation.
Gençİzler stands out as a process that strengthens young people’s ability to speak up about their cities, generate data, and engage in advocacy. The report aims to contribute to the development of a more equal, transparent, and inclusive local governance approach in Samsun.
