According to research findings, Dom, Abdal and Roma communities face serious barriers to accessing the labor market due to deep poverty, low levels of education, and widespread discrimination. It is observed that a large portion of participants live in low-income households, and a significant number work in informal and insecure jobs or do not apply for jobs at all. The low level of education and limited school attendance rates among children contribute to the continuation of intergenerational poverty.
The report also highlights that employment programs offered by public institutions have limited impact and are insufficient in providing sustainable employment. While it is noted that a significant portion of participants are not aware of these programs or do not benefit from them, social assistance provides only short-term support and does not lead to permanent economic improvement.
Discrimination stands out as one of the main barriers to accessing employment. Participants report being excluded or subjected to negative treatment in recruitment processes because of their identities. For women, care responsibilities and gender inequality create additional disadvantages. The research draws attention to the need for rights-based and inclusive policies in this area.
