About the Organization
The Fund is carried out in partnership with Anadolu Efes, the Republic of Turkey the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the UN Development Program (UNDP). It was first started under the name of DATUR in 2007 in order to develop a tourism-oriented local development model in Çoruh Valley. Thanks to the project, local activities such as more than 20 pensions, cycling, and hiking routes, rafting, and bird watching were organized. Deciding to carry their five-year regional experience to the national level in 2013, they implemented the "The Future is in Tourism" Sustainable Tourism Support Fund in order for tourism to gain a place as an alternative sustainable development tool. In addition to funding support, supports such as training, planning, technical support, communication, and consultancy were also provided to three projects each year.
Fund support is provided for innovative, participatory, sustainable and gender-balanced tourism projects.
The Support Fund aims to increase the capacities of local tourism actors and civil society organizations by developing cooperation with public and private organizations and to increase the best examples in the field of sustainable tourism. Non-profit civil society organizations and chambers, unions, cooperatives, professional associations, federations, associations, foundations, universities, and research institutes/centers registered in Turkey and having a legal personality can apply to the Fund.
