Resource Centre for CSOs in Türkiye

Building on our many years of experience in strengthening the capacity of the civil society sector, we launched the Resource Centre for CSOs in Türkiye in January 2025.

With the financial support of the European Union, this new program aims to enable civil society organizations—key pillars of democracy—to amplify their voices, strengthen their organizational, institutional, and financial capacities, and engage more effectively with the public. Spanning a total of 40 months, the program will provide comprehensive capacity-building support to CSOs across Turkey and carry out advocacy activities to support the rights to participation and freedom of association.

Why this project?

The most significant structural challenge faced by CSOs in Turkey is the lack of institutionalization, compounded by a shortage of qualified personnel, which limits capacity development. In addition, limited revenue diversification in the civil society sector and the erosion of traditional funding sources threaten the financial sustainability of CSOs.

In response to these challenges, the new program cycle will support CSOs in strengthening their capacities with a rights-based approach and a gender equality perspective. We will also work to enhance their financial sustainability through resource diversification, improve their effectiveness and accountability, and help CSOs strengthen their communication skills to engage more broadly with society and reinforce their legitimacy.

What will we do?

In this project, which aims to strengthen CSOs’ institutional capacities to become more sustainable, effective, and accountable, support will be provided under four main pillars:

Knowledge Resources

  • Provide comprehensive information support to help CSOs overcome structural challenges.
  • Establish a three-tiered support mechanism offering guidance on technical, financial, and legal matters.
  • Support digital transformation processes to help CSOs adapt to technological developments.

Organization-Specific Support Mechanisms

  • Offer active support for the daily and short-term operational needs of CSOs.
  • Contribute to capacity development through information, guidance, and organizational coaching services.

Skills Development Training

  • Organize comprehensive training programs to increase CSOs’ institutional capacities.
  • Continuously update training content to respond to evolving needs and provide effective, participatory learning experiences.

Community and Alliance Building

  • Promote collaboration to develop collective solutions to shared challenges.
  • Support CSOs in resource development and financial strengthening to enhance sustainability.
  • Establish the Communication Practitioners Community to encourage experience sharing among civil society communicators.
  • Launch peer learning and mentoring programs to facilitate knowledge exchange among CSOs.
  • Create the Code of Conduct Platform to enhance CSOs’ accountability and transparency.
