Technical Support for Strengthening CSOs’ Capacities to Engage in Prevention of CEFM Project-II

Technical Support for Strengthening CSOs’ Capacities to Engage in Prevention of Child, Early and Forced Marriage (CEFM) Project was jointly implemented by the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) and Civil Society Development Center (STGM) between December 2020 and June 2021. The second phase of the project will be implemented between July 2022 and October 2023.

In the second phase of the program, both small-scale grants and training and mentoring support for institutional development will be provided for civil society organizations (CSOs) carrying out rights-based studies and working in the prevention of child, early, and forced marriage or in cross-cutting areas such as children's rights, women's rights, refugee rights, public health, etc.

The project aims to

  • Increase the institutional capacity of CSOs, which carry out activities to prevent child, early and forced marriage, so that they can fulfill their essential functions and achieve their goals.
  • Strengthen the communication and advocacy capacity of local CSOs by encouraging them to include the prevention of child, early, and forced marriage in their work and practices.

Target group of the project

Local or national civil society organizations working directly in the prevention of child, early, and forced marriage, or in cross-cutting areas such as children's rights, women's rights, refugee rights, public health, etc.

Planned activities:

  • As part of our small-scale grant support, civil society organizations in the target group will be invited to submit project proposals that place the prevention of child, early, and forced marriage at the center of their activities. In total 10 project proposals will receive a maximum grant of 12,000 USD. The duration of the projects is expected to be between 6-9 months.
  • The beneficiary CSOs will receive technical or administrative assistance in the development and implementation phase of their projects.
  • The beneficiary CSOs will conduct a self-assessment, accompanied by an expert, to identify their organizational capacities regarding advocacy and communication, administrative and financial management, and rights-based approach.
  • In line with the identified needs, capacity-building training will be conducted for the beneficiary CSOs under the titles of advocacy and communication, as well as training conveying information on CEFM and related legal regulations in the field.
  • At least 2 online experience-exchange meetings will be conducted for beneficiary organizations to come together and share their knowledge and experiences.
  • Online informative videos (approximately 40) on child, early, and forced marriage produced in the first phase of the project and broadcast on our YouTube channel will be disseminated.
