About the Program

The Human Rights Program of the Netherlands aims to strengthen humanity's stance against injustice and oppression and to create a world that respects human rights. It supports local initiatives that work on human rights and want to make fundamental changes in their community.

Priority Areas

Issues related to women's rights and gender discrimination, LGBTI rights, support for human rights activists, promotion of corporate social responsibility, freedom of belief, freedom of expression, with an emphasis on internet freedom.

About Application

Civil Society Organizations, central, regional, and local authorities, and non-profit educational institutions can apply for grants. Organizations send their applications to the embassy electronically to their email address [email protected] by filling out the application and budget form on the website containing detailed information on the applicant organization and its success, detailed and transparent budget information and relevant supporting documents.

Project applications are evaluated several times a year. Detailed information is provided on the web pages about the situations in which no funding is provided under the Human Rights Program. If the Human Rights Program activities are clearly described in the proposal, if other sources of funding are specified, the budget is balanced and the visibility of the Human Rights Program is guaranteed, it is possible to co-finance the project.
Projects with a budget between 25,000 and 300,000 Euros can apply, but projects with an average budget of around 100,000 Euros are generally implemented. Likewise, although there is no lower limit, projects should generally not be less than 25,000 Euros.
