About the Program
The Embassy of the Kingdom of Netherlands provdides support to civil society organizations with two separate programs to support Turkey's EU candidacy. MATRA is the Dutch abbreviation for "Social Transformation". MATRA- Social Transformation Program aims to contribute to the further development of an open, pluralistic, democratic society in Central and Eastern Europe who is fully committed to the rule of law.
Justice and Internal Affairs (legislation and public order law, administration, police, anti-corruption), human rights (minorities and public awareness), media and information, education.
Civil Society Organizations, central, regional, and local authorities, and non-profit educational institutions can apply for grants. The project should come from local initiatives, the target group should be actively involved in all phases of the project. Detailed information is given on the web pages about the situations where there is no funding under MATRA and the co-financing conditions.
Organizations send their applications to the embassy electronically by filling out the application and budget form on the website containing detailed information on the applicant organization and its success, detailed and transparent budget information and relevant supporting documents. Project applications are evaluated several times a year.
Projects with a budget between 25,000 and 300,000 Euros can apply, but projects with an average budget of around 100,000 Euros are generally implemented. Likewise, although there is no lower limit, projects should generally not be less than 25,000 Euros.
